Solving the Problem of Drinking Water- Before Everything
A Civic Ecological Forum, Solving the Problem of Drinking Water- Before Everything, was held to conclude the sustainable tribune on June 16, 2005 (Thursday) in the municipality of Sveti Nikole to allow discussion of sustainable development in the Ovce Pole region.

The Movement of Ecologists in Macedonia- DEM and the Ecological Association “Izgrev” organized the Eco-event “GMO-Free Banquet” as part of the project “Initiatives for legislation and raising public awareness of GMO’s in the Republic of Macedonia” on July 9, 2005 (Saturday), beginning at 9 a.m. at the city market.

EA “Izgrev” from Sveti Nikole and EA “Bios” from Radovis, as part of the project “To a Future with Sustainable Agriculture,” are organizing local roundtables in order to introduce the population from 4 larger rural areas of these regions with the meaning of organic agriculture.

| EA “IZGREV” HELD ITS REGULAR INFORMATIVE MEETING

The Environmental Association “Izgrev” organised an Informative Meeting for regular public informing.
After the meeting, there was an election Assembly. EA “Izgrev” has a new organizational structure:
Members of Executive Committee are: Vladimir Gilev-President, Paskalina Gosevska, Blagica Paneva, Katerina Zafirova and Jordanco Davitkov. Members of the Supervisory Committee are: Snezana Dimitrova, Dragoljub Nikolov and Jordanka Dimceva.

Members of the School of young ecologists organized a fundraising activity-Auction of gifts on February 28, 2005. The Auction was held in the Cultural Centre “Trajko Prokopiev” in Kumanovo.

| EU Training for Macedonian NGOs

EU Training for Macedonian NGOs was held on February 24-25, 2005 in hotel Jadran, in Skopje. The organization was DemNet-Foundation for development of democratic rights from Hungary and CIRa-Center for institutional development from Macedonia.

| Citizen’s environmental forum intensified its training about the sustainable development concept |
|
D Phil Josif Tanevski presented the project, its goals and the meaning of the sustainable development concept. Prof D Phil Ljupcho Melovski has a presentation about the biodiversity and sustainable development. The brochure “Application of the sustainable development concept in the municipalities in Republic of Macedonia” was distributed. There were discussion about the important areas and natural recourses in the region of Ovche Pole, for example field-protective zones (green hedges); “gereni”-dry area; rural areas with traditional agriculture and domestic plants and animals; with specific emphases on the climate conditions: dry areas, wind, a lot of sunny days and small number of rainy days.

| CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS OF THE REGIONAL ECO-QUIZ |
|
According to the planned activities, a Regional eco-quiz was organized, on 18 January, 2005, in Kumanovo. Participants were organized in different teams and there was also a Commission with 3 members. The six members from the team-winner received appropriate awards.
