PROGRAM

The activists of the EA "Izgrev" organized workshops for development of the Strategic plan throught the participation in the progamme " Development of the civil organizations in Macedonia" of the independed netherlands foundation Milieukontakt, OOST Europa. The workshops were facilitated by Ms. Zoran Stojkovski.

KEY ACTIVITIES

With the beginning of the process for strategic planning were identified the following key activities:

• Information and education of the citizens for protection and improvement of the environment;
• Promotion of the organic agriculture, as a form of agriculture which provide healthy environment;
• Cooperation and partnership with the NGOs, local and national authorities and institutions from Macedonia;
• Providing services for the citizens, NGOs, business sector, local and national authorities;
• Fundraising activities and
• Public involvement in the decision making processes.

KEY VALUES

The key values are the main starters in the organizational work. They are accepted and applied by all the members in the organization. The following key values were identified:

• There is an atmosphere for making initiatives;
• There is a good cooperation, respect and thrust among the members;
• All of the members are convinced and believe in the mission;
• The members of the Executive Committee participate in the decision making process;
• EA "Izgrev" gives help to any NGO which needs it, on local and national level;
• The competition spirit among the membership is rear and there is a careful behavior among each other;
• There is an informalness during the work and relationships among the members;
• There is a professional staff and membership with high level of enthusiasm, ambition, creativity and devotion during the work;
• There is a humor and joining;
• All of the members have positive towards the environment and
• The disagreements and mistakes are accepted as something by which one can learn something more about the organization.

LONG-TERM OBJECTIVE

Finding models and mechanisms for problem solving within the environment for the needs of the authorities, business sector and the citizens (NGOs), on local and national level.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

To use the opportunities to start the fundraising activities

Reason:

It is very important to establish a cooperation with new donators in order to supply successful function, independence in the work and financial stability. The cooperation with the donators is very important for short-term achievements, as well as long-term environmental researches and issues. But, according to the fact that there is a possibility that the international foundations and donators will retract from Macedonia, FA would provide continuous working of the EA "Izgrev" and permanent financial ensureness. Above all, own financial ensureness can provide organizational independence and self-support.

Possible FA:

Consulting for the NGOs and local authorities for preparation and implementation of the LEAP, finding solutions for the ecological priorities, preparation of strategies for protection and improvement of the environment through public participation in the decision making processes, etc.;

• Publishing of publications;
• Conservation of the nature;
• Implementation of methodologies and approaches for protection and protection of the environment;
• Certification for the organic agriculture and others.

To establish and make it function a Local Ecological Informative Center (LEIC)

Reason:

According to the world wide experiences about the environment, as well as Macedonia, and foresight the negative trend of improvement of the environment, as well as the lack of the ecological awareness on local level, the establishment and the functioning of the LEIC will provide public access to the information about the environment. By the function of the LEIC, the continuous ecological education of the citizens, there can be also provide activities which will provide financial means. (training, eco-camps for youth, eco-markets, eco-tourism, ...)

Promotion of the organic agriculture in the region Ovce Pole

Reason:

Promotion of the organic agriculture in the region Ovce Pole reflects the aspiration of the organization towards to economic and overall development of the municipality Sveti Nikole, applied according to the actual ecological requirements and standards. Actually, the activists want to endorse that Ovce Pole, as relatively polluted region, has potentials and opportunities for production of healthy food according to the organic agriculture standards. At the same time, with the implementation of the organic agriculture, as the highest form of the sustainable agriculture, will provide healthy environment and the existing natural resources (soil, water, air, biodiversity, ...) will be ensured in order to become accessible for the future generations.

Citizens participation in the decision making process and its realization within the environment and sustainable development

Reason:

None of the decisions in any field of citizens common living can be successfully implemented, if the citizens do not take part in the decision making process. Thereby, it is essential EA "Izgrev" to include the citizens in the decision making process and realization within the environment and nature on local level.

Providing a continuous training for the activists of the EA"Izgrev"

Reason:

It is necessary that the activists should have certain experiences, skills and knowledge for function, development and improvement of the independed NGO. Therefore, there is a need the older members to be trained by special organizations and individuals. Further more, the learned experiences by the older members should be transfered to the new ones.
